My Story

 My name is Azina Amar and I am an entrepreneur. I run a non-profit organization for abandoned babies which also offers free child care for single parents. I believe everyone needs help, especially now that there is a pandemic. A lot of people are losing their jobs, having trouble supporting their families. This is why I want to share my story and  make a difference in other people’s lives by showing how powerful knowledge can be when we apply them in our lives.

It’s common for children to worry about nothing but playing, having fun and going to school. However, it wasn’t the same for me. At a young age of ten, I had to work to support my five younger siblings because my parents were swept up in the crack epidemic. At fifteen years old, I was forced to spend a year in jail as I was falsely accused of murder. Those situations were enough to make anyone feel like why were we brought into the world and have these things happen to us anyway? But, you know what? I realized that God doesn’t let us go through life alone.When I was incarcerated  my teacher, Robert Allekotte, would visit me and show me pictures of the world, the places he’s been to and told me I can also do the same one day. That gave me the strength I needed to persevere. My difficult upbringing gave me the tools I needed to succeed, I was still able to get my GED and go to college in West Virginia through the help of Job Corp — one of the blessings that turned my life around. During that time, I read a book entitled “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki, which marked the beginning of my journey as an entrepreneur.

I then moved to Atlanta. I had 2  jobs 1 at a day care center and the post office. While at worked  at the post office one of my customers spit in my face  because I returned her mail. I took the pain and suffering and harnessed to produce the energy I needed it start my own business.  I didn’t curse her, I just walked away and realized that I had to do something different so people would never be little me like that again. From that day forth I started to pay myself first and invest, I opened a clothing store and worked there on my days off and weekends. The money I made in 2 weeks working at the post office I made in 1 day at my store from that moment  I quit both my jobs, and decided I’m never going to work for someone else’s business again.

After all those years, I realized that just because bad things happen doesn’t mean our life is doomed. I found solace and inspiration from books — the major factor that led me to success. I discovered that what I read has the power to affect my mindset, perspective, and even my entire life. This is why I want to encourage people that they can do, be and have anything they want through reading, writing and applying what they learn.
